Bristol Old Vic's magical Christmas show captioned
Bristol Old Vic has programmed a captioned performance of their Christmas show, Swallows and Amazons, on Thursday 6 January 2011 at 2pm, promising a genuinely magical treat for the whole family.
John, Susan, Titty and Roger set out in their boat to an island of adventure. All seems well during these long summer days until they encounter their enemy. The Amazon pirates, Nancy and Peggy, who claim ownership of the land. But in time a truce is called and the Swallows and Amazons become firm friends. Camping under open skies, swimming in clear water, fishing, exploring and making discoveries is the stuff of dreams. Swallows and Amazons will transport children to a fantastical place where they can play safely and roam freely, without an adult in sight.
Swallows and Amazons is directed by Bristol Old Vic's Artistic Director Tom Morris, adapted for the stage by Helen Edmundson, who previously adapted Coram Boy at the National Theatre, with a score penned by Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy.
