The Woman in Black
- Genre
- Drama
Fortune Theatre , London 2nd June 2010
A few years ago, I first saw this play. That performance was neither captioned nor BSL-interpreted, but I just had to see it because I was curious as to why it had been running for years. I sat at the front row and managed to follow the play, just about.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed it so much, that for a few years I begged and begged the Fortune Theatre to have this play captioned. Also, when filling in questionnaires for STAGETEXT, I even indicated this play as the one I wanted to see with captions, without fail.
Thankfully, my perseverance paid off when this play was finally captioned on 2nd June 2010. Instead of the front row, this time I sat in the Dress Circle. I could not remember the vast majority of this production, so while watching it again, I felt as if I was watching a brand new play. Also, the captions made me realise that I had missed out a lot when first seeing this play a few years back.
For me, this is a classic example of the fact why captioning plays such an important part in many people's lives.
Thank you, STAGETEXT and the Fortune Theatre, for a spine-chilling evening!
